My Mermaid Family

I painted this of my three little children. They are not so little anymore...17,15, and 13. I do not know where the time goes. I remember when I thought it would all be so easy if they could all put on their own shoes. Now, I love it when they are all home and safe for the night. My life was filled with "Barney" and "Power Rangers" now it is ESPN and Reality T.V. and 17 years later, I still do not get to watch PBS...( my favorite)I am painting more and more children and "best friends" I love it! On a literary note, I am reminded of one of the kids favorite childhood poems.."The owl and the pussycat went to sea in a beautiful pea green boat..."

Your "mermaid family" reminds me of one summer day on Long Boat Key when your 3 and my 1 were floating on a raft in the Gulf of Mexico. A baby octopus was discovered by Drew on the float with them. We quickly took that little sea creature to the scientists at Mote Aquarium who named him Drewopolus in honor of the founder. What a fun, vivid memory your artwork creates for me... keep the stories and art coming.

What a fun painting! I wish I had that talent! I also wanted to respond to your question on my blog about the rub-on letters...I have seen them at Hobby Lobby, Michaels and the sticker section. Good luck!

This is so cute. It really does look just like their pic. Great job!

Thanks so much Sheila! I am running this as an ad in Skirt magazine. Have you ever read it? It is a really cool, interesting magazine geared toward women. They have them in certain markets like Tampa, Atlanta, Savannah, Charleston, Charlotte, Birmingham etc. Of course, not in Polk County.

Kim, I have heard of it. I've seen it in North Florida. As a matter of fact, I read one recently. I will bring you a copy of the one from up here. Will your ad run in all of them???

Again, this is just precious. You do such wonderful work. I'm so proud of you for following your dream this way. You go, girl! :-)

Kim, your painting of your babies is WONDERFUL. What a great way to express your joy and love for them... and I know, where oh where does the time go? My baby is 19... sigh.
Well we'll just keep busy dreaming, creating, living, and LOVING each and every day, right?
